Image Oversaturation in the Digital World, 2020. NETART Project. Interactive website created using p5.js and HTML code.
This project comments on the constant bombardment of information that we experience today. The countless profiles created every minute and the amount of daily shared posts lead to this overwhelming oversaturation of images and information to which we are exposed. Social media demands that one has to be on them to avoid feeling excluded and isolated. However, those of us on social media also have the desire to step away from them due to the addictive nature they create.
This project, through the camera, immerses the viewer in the digital world. It makes them a part of visual pollution. As the participant interacts with the page by pressing the 'Draw' button, more and more images are added to the screen. At the same time, the sound intensifies, attempting to make the viewer feel bombarded, saturated, and uncomfortable. The only way to stop and exit is by pressing the 'Escape,' 'Delete,' or 'Enter' button.
Furthermore, the images lack depth or significant content. They are sourced from Pinterest to emphasize the theme and message of the piece. Today's world is full of superficial, irrelevant images that lack profound meanings.
